Cultivating Success Together
Alito Joint Multipurpose Co-operative in Lango, Kole district, is where this powerhouse of seed production is based.
The co-operative began in 1998 with only five members, including three women. Today, it boasts 16,815 members spread across northern Uganda.
The main objective was to take farming as a business focusing on oil seed production picking sunflower as the major oil seed crop alongside other oil crops like soya beans, ground nuts, simsim, and also including food security crops like maize, cassava, beans, sorghum, sweet potatoes, pigeon pea and green gram.
Our success revolves around soya bean seed multiplication, its main value chain for profitability and sustainability.
